Mahala is an alcohol-free, triple distilled spirit.
Mahala is made in South Africa, using nine hand-sourced botanicals that are infused under vacuum to extract the flavour. The entirety of the product is distilled with our custom built stills.
“Mahala” is the Zulu slang word for “free”… Mahala Botanical is free from sugar, alcohol, colourants and artificial flavours. Mahala is also gluten-free and vegan friendly.
The Story behind Mahala
In 2020, Danielle Schoeman, a renowned South African Master Distiller, began trialling various alcohol-free distilled spirits in her Dona craft distillery. Foraging botanicals from her family farm in the Western Cape she experimented with various blends until eventually discovering the perfect recipe.
Awards
In its year of creation, Mahala Botanical Classic was awarded the Trophy for Best Low/No Alcohol Spirit at the prestigious Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards.
Mahala Botanical Classic also won award for Best Tea Cocktail (Non alcoholic) at the Tea Cocktail Champion 2022 (Non Alcohol) in London and a Commended Award at the World Alcohol Free Awards 2023.
Mahala Botanical Amber was awarded an amazing one star Great Taste Award. The Great Taste Awards are hugely respected and coveted food and drink awards.
Mahala Botanical Amber was awarded a Silver medal at the 2023 Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards.
Mahala Botanical Classic was awarded a Bronze medal at the 2023 Free from Christmas awards.
CLASSIC
Mahala Botanical Classic is a non-alcoholic, triple distilled spirit. Mahala is made in South Africa, using nine hand-sourced botanicals that are infused under vacuum to extract the flavour. The entirety of the product is distilled with our custom built stills. Delicately spiced with zesty citrus finish.
AMBER
Launched in March 2023 Amber has the same 9 hand-sourced botanicals with the addition of extracts of oak, smoke and chilli which give it a deliciously warming smoky flavour.
THE MAGIC OF MAHALA BOTANICAL
The all-natural botanicals undergo a triple-distillation process in our custom-built vacuum stills. This ensures abundant flavour and results in a complex, layered finish. The end product is an alluring premium drink that delivers a sophisticated alternative to alcoholic beverages.
