The award-winning alcohol-free spirit from South Africa has just landed in the UK – and while it’s free from alcohol, sugar, colourants and artificial flavours, it also gives back.
Created and co-founded by Danielle Schoeman, Mahala is made using nine hand-sourced botanicals, many of which are indigenous to South Africa and some even foraged from Danielle’s farmland.
“Mahala was born out of a desire to create a premium, healthy and distinctive alcohol-free spirit in a booming category that offers little choice for consumers looking for quality sugar-free and alcohol-free alternatives,” she said.
Supporting local workers and CSR initiatives
The entire production process for Mahala, from the creation of the base spirit, to the packaging and labelling, takes place at Danielle’s Doña Distillery in Cape Town, South Africa.
Mahala supports local workers and CSR initiatives in South Africa. The Distillery employs previously disadvantaged employees and contributes a percentage of its sales to The Botanical Society of South Africa, which champions biodiversity conservation to protect the extraordinary plant diversity and ecosystems.
Mahala also supports The Sparrow Society, which empowers local township ladies to produce recyclable bags, which are used for marketing activity.
